Frankston,Hastings,Rye Friday 8th October 2010

After leaving Phillip Island, we decided to spend a day traversing the Mornington peninsula. We went to Frankston, then onto Hastings and Crib Point to see HMAS Cerberus where Dale had been stationed during his Naval career. We then travelled down the peninsula and up into the mountains to Arthurs Seat. From here you can see right up Port Phillip Bay to Melbourne and back over to Phillip Island.

We parked up in a free camp at Rye right on the waters edge. It is a camping ground open during the summer months and free all other times. We were the only vehicle there. There were good facilities and water and sullage. Even though it was right on the main road, it was suprisingly quiet and we slept well.
Dale went fishing off the pier but it was lucky we had dinner organised (fish and chips from the shop!) He managed to snap the sunrise over Port Phillip Bay early the following morning.
